Movies/Sleepover Party

April 2008

Sophie in San Diego, CA (USA)

For my birthday, I didn't actually do this party, just ideas. INVITES: Take red or blue card stock and make it into the shape of a ticket. Then write- Admit One to ________'s ________th birthday party. Then write the date/time etc. SET-UP:  Use one of your rooms with a TV in it.  If you want to make it a better movie atmosphere, then you can have a pull out screen or use the wall and rent a projector or something.  So in the room (playroom, loft, hang-out room works best), set out some comfy chairs and/or blankets on the ground or use couches or whatever you'd like. Face it towards where you will be watching the movie. When deciding on the movie, your local movie store is best. Don't go to the new releases or anything, and make sure that it's age appropriate. Try to pick something that you don't think anyone has seen before but that looks like a good movie. Anyways, make the room a movie atmosphere" and maybe put a sign on the door that says: Like if your last name is Macartnee then you would say "Edwards Cinemas" or make up a clever name or something like that.  Make a sign for it then put it on the doors entering your "movie room" so that the guests can see it. Set up a concession stand and make it like a counter at the real movies and have popcorn and candy and maybe even hot dogs or nachos or something.  Make a ticket booth with cardboard or anything really.  Have an older sibling or adult stand behind it for the party.  THE PARTY: When your guests are finally arriving give them each a certain amount of fake money (that can be purchased at party superstores) as they walk in the door. This money is used to buy the concessions at your concession stand and their ticket at the ticket booth).  Then have someone stand by the door taking tickets that were purchased with fake money at the ticket booth. All of the guests enter the "theater" with their popcorn and soda and candy or whatever they chose. The movie is played. Afterwards everyone leaves the "theater" for cake and presents. Cake is optional because with all the food they had during the movie they may not feel up to cake. I hope you have a great birthday and enjoy the party!!!!!"
