Movie Theater Party / Princess Theme
My daughter decided she wanted to host her 9th birthday party at one of our local movie theaters. They offer a party package which includes a party room and admission to the movie of your choosing and a kids movie pack (popcorn, drink, candy). The price per child is worth it as the activity is already taken care of. We chose Princess Diaries 2, the first weekend after the release. I suggested this to her because movies that have been out for a while have been seen by your guests usually. I want the girls to have fun enjoying the movie for the first time together. Invitations should be sent as far in advance as possible so that your guests will not go see the movie before the party. She invited several girls from her school and our church. To avoid hurt feelings, invitations were sent in the mail and not handed out at school! For party favors, I really want each girl to feel like a princess, but want to stay with the movie theme. I went to my local dollar store and found gift bags shaped like purses and plastic tiaras. I filled the "purses" with the things any princess worth her crown would never be without: jelly beans, a small "diary" which is really a composition book with each girls name on it, a colorful pen and a clear lip gloss. At movie time, the girls will march into the theater wearing their tiaras and carrying their "purses". This will allow me to keep track of them by sight and allow them to feel so special and royal. Hope you try it someday!
