This summer my sister and I decided to plan a mocktail party. Since we were both underage and we didn't want out parents to have to be there it seemed easier.
We started out by sending invitations to the girls which were written in caligraphy, rolled and tied with ribbon. When the girls arrived, in their formal wear on the evening we had our man servants (two boys 9 and 10 which we had hired from the evening) greet them in there matching tuxes and escort them to the garden where we sat by the pond. Once everyone had arrived we ordered our drinks from the menu which was framed and sitting on the table. The list contained margarittas, strawberry daquiris, pina coladas, mud slide, melon delight, hurricane, ceasar, and shirley temple which my sister and I had previously made and carefully labelled as not to confuse the boys. They all had specific glasses with specific garnishes that were also labelled and carefully placed out. Ex. Margarittas were in margaritta glasses that had been salted and the boys simply placed a sliced lime on the rim. After everyone had recieved at least their first drink the boys brought out plates and forks for the individual caramel flans and cheese cake (yummy!) We sat there for a while continuing to order drinks, finish our desert and enjoy each other's company. Once we were tired of that we all moved into the house where the boys had prepard large foot baths for us in the living room. I had made up timy gift packs that included bath oil, dried flowers, a candle and some foot cream to use during the evening. Some of the girls changed into pajamas which they had brought along and then we sat down and soothed out feet in the warm baths. As we did that, the boys turned on a good chick flick ("Sleepless in Seattle") and then brought out some more goodies for us including cheese, crackers, pickles, and meat, veggies and dip and popcorn (because you can't watch a movie without popcorn.) After the movie was done and everyone was well fed and relaxed they headed home. The cost was very minimal because we made the creams and oils and the flan and cheese cake and the appetizers were pretty simple and inexpensive. Other than that we just bought the supplies for the drinks (including all the garnishes) and we already had the glasses. Oh and we paid the boys, but I can't remember how much. Everyone had a great time. I think it's an excellent way to bring everyone together amist a busy schedule and just have fun!
