Movie Mania For my sons 12th birthday we made a mini movie theatre in our basement. We decorated using posters of some of the latest movies, which we got for free from
blockbuster video, we put a large poster on the window with the feature films that we were playing with showtimes listed below (you could also put mini flashing christmas lights around
this. We downloaded the pictures off the internet and color copied them for the poster. We also stuck blown up black baloons all over the ceiling where the movie was to be watched.
Each balloon had something in them like (mini choc. bars, confetti, a loonie, candy and one had a free movie pass) At the beginning of the party each child had a chance to bust a balloon with a skewer till all were gone. We also had isles roped off from the entrance door to where the theatre was, with crepe paper. Once the child arrived they received an admittance ticket which cost them one birthday present.(we downloaded the tickets off the net), then they walked along to the theatre where we had a little booth with the word tickets stuck to it set up. They had to get there ticket ripped in order to enter. We also had a little canteen set up with popcorn, caramel corn, coke and pizza pops which they could order whenever. We also made a funny sign for the washroom which hung below the door with arrows pointing. We had intermission between movies and had cake, ice-cream and presents. The cake was made exactly like a blockbuster video card, very simple, just a square cake with blue and yellow icing and writing of course. After the last movie was over we killed the last half hour with little games to which you could win .50 cents or a loonie. you could also play movie trivia. Last but not least were the loot bags (the best part of the party, in my opinion) For these we purchased empty video cases which we sleeved with color copies of the movies we watched and printed thank you for sharing movie mania with (the guest of honor's name) on his 12th birthday and then the date below. We then stuffed these with unpopped pkgs of micro popcorn and mini choc. bars. We included these with a bottle of coke and the latest movie previews magazine (also from blockbuster) and put into a blockbuster bag (purchased from blockbuster). They all had a great time! There are many more ideas for this party, to many to mention, but just use your imagination the list is endless.
