We wanted to keep our two sons birthday simple and just have some friends over and also treat them to a movie. It soon became apparent that there was not going to be an appropriate movie for us to take them to so we came up with our own theater. My husband went around to the local movie rental places and they happily gave us their cardboard displays and posters that weren't being used.  We put them up all around the house. I went to the theater and got popcorn bags.  We filled them up with popcorn and they watched a favorite video. They also could visit the "concession" stand.  We  made our kitchen into a snack area. I hung bags of chips up with clothes pins and a string, which included all the "movie snacks" like at the movies. We topped it off with a banana split cake.  The boys took home a popcorn bag filled with goodies and a display and poster.
