Mystery Party

January 2006

Colleen in Warrigton, PA, USA

For my birthday last year, I decided to have a mystery party. I bought a party mystery game off ebay. It came with invites that tell the guests about the character they play and the other characters. Everyone comes dressed as the character, which is already oiff the bat a barrell of laughs. For instance I was a nerd turned popular named Duncan Flushwater. I wore a backwards baseball cap, my dad's jeans (for the baggy "cool" effect), and boxers I usually wear as pajama bottoms to create a popular look. But for the nerdy side of Duncan I wore big, geeky, taped sunglasses that I punched the lenses out of, and I used dental wax to make fake, "woodchuck", front teeth. Once all the guests arrived we turned on my disco ball and started the mystery. It was really fun! About alfway through we rebooted ourselves with Pizza for dinner and then countinued the game. After the game we ate cake and I opened my gifts. One of my friends, Kelly, was cast as a film director in our mystery so she brought along a video camera. This was great because we all went over to my karaoke machine and performed "SLEEPOVER IDOL" while she taped us. It was the hilight of the night! The girls who didn't want to sing got to be Simon, Paula, and Randy and take part in the mini commercials we made for Geico, Venus razors, and Empire today. We had the best time! Afterwards, we watched the movie, "Rat Race", (which I rented), as we fell asleep. In the morning we all woke up while it was still dark and played a DVD/board game called AtmostFEAR (I highly recommend it as a party game), it has a scary theme and makes everybody laugh and shiver at the same time. We ate cookies and milk/water (I'm allergic to dairy). Finally when it was light out and my parents had gotten up we ate cereal for breakfast. Before the girls had to be picked up we played games like where one person goes into another room and counts to 30 while the other girls hide in somebody elses sleeping ba. When the person who is "it" comes back she has to guess who is in each other bags only by feeling the "lump" (the girl) in the bag. This game causes lots of laughs. My party was amazing and I hope yours is too!
