I was planning my daughter's 12 birthday and wanted something a little different. I decided on a murder mystery but wanted something that the kids could relate to. I found a mystery game
created by another mom on Ebay. The game came with a script and suggestions on what they could wear. I invited the girls to MTV's party of the year! It was to take place at Britney Smears
mansion.... then all of the party info. I asked them to RSVP the event co-ordinator for further instructions. When each guest rsvp'd I then had another invitation made up telling them which
character they were and costume suggestions. What they didn't know was when they got to the party they had to solve a crime. Britney Smears had been drowned and one of them did it. I had
crime scene tape across the patio doors (if it had been nice out I would have put it outside around the pool). I had stars and twinkle lights up all over the main living room as well as over
the table where everyone was to eat. I made star place cards with everyone's name. (my daughter used these to write the thank you's on to hand out after.) There was a VIP entrance sign up
over the door as well. Since my daughter's party is in January I took advantage of the after xmas sales on all the star materials that I incorporated into the "MTV star party". We
played a few games while we waited for everyone to arrive. We then ate and got down to the game. It was a scripted game so I had made binders for everyone. I cut pictures out of magazines of
all of the characters and made a collage on the front. (Each of their characters were a spoof on a popular star ex) Justin Jumpinthelake...) The game consisted of four rounds where the
characters interacted with each other and everyone learned secrets about them. They then had to decide who murdered Britney. It made for a very entertaining evening and really got the girls
to interact with each other even if they did not know the others as well. The costumes that the girls created made for great photo opportunities. There were scripts written for 5 boys and 5
girls plus an inspector. So some of the girls came dressed as boysand my husband and son were a part of it as well and I was the inspector. Everyone had a great time and the party was talked
about at school for quite some time."
