This is a party for older kids that are able to read. I called it a mystery dinner party for my 10 year old and the girls loved it. When the girls arrived, they were given 'menus'
and order forms to fill in for their dinner. The order forms had 4 spaces each for first course, second course, third course and fourth course, translating into appetizer, salad, entree and
dessert.
The catch was that their menu did not tell them exactly what they were ordering. On it were such things as 'scarlet rope'(spaghetti),'Fido's trick'(a roll),'mouthwash'(a napkin),'Cosby's special'(Jell-O),'snake's tongue'(a fork) and so on. Make sure you include silverware on the menu and be sure not to give them the answers until after dinner is served. Serve the courses in 5-10 minute intervals.(You will need help.)It was very funny to see some of the girls get their first course of jello, pickles a napkin and a fork and try to eat their Jell-O with the fork. I got this idea from a friend, but you could actually use hotdogs ,for example, that may go over better than spaghetti as the main course and just give the appropriate clues. Wait until you see the looks on their faces when someone gets their first course with their dessert on their plate.
