For my sons first birthday we chose a rubber ducky theme. The invitations were printed on cardstock cut out into small squares and attached to the neck of a numbered rubber duckie. At the bottom of the invitaion it read: if you want to get lucky bring this duckie. We placed cotton filling all over the ceiling with thumb tacs arranged to look like clouds. In the center of the dining room we hung a large rainbow colored umbrella and then we took clear blue decorative plastic (like marbles but shaped like broken chunks of ice) we attached these to dental floss and hung them from the ceiling as rain drops. The table was decorated with yellow disposable plates napkins and a white flat sheet as the table cloth. We filled small metal tins with clothe markers so that each child could draw a picture or message to the bithday boy. The cake was a homemade rubber ducky using the wilton stand up rubber duckie decorated with the star tip. we placed him in a large metal wash bucket with handles (looks like the tubs you have your little kids pictures taken in at the picture studio when they are little.) We surounded the cake with large and small marshmellow to look like bubble bath. We also made cupcakes with white frosting and miniture marshmellows topped with rubber duckie candles. We served miniture corndogs and french fries we served them in additional mini metal tins chocolate or strawberry milk for the kids to drink. At the beging of the party each child was given a goody pale ( another tin pale) filled with a fishing pole Plastic one with magnet on the end. each fishing pole had a gummy worm attached to its hook. the pale also had a hand net for catching the fish and a  rainbow lolipop and bubbles in it. In the center of the living room I had set up a kiddie wading pool with a few inches of water in it and I had tossed in all of the fishes that came with the poles and as the guests came with there numbered duckie I placed them in the pool to be pulled out to win prizes The kids had a blast fishing and pulling out the duckies! The only kid that we couldnt keep from jumping into the pool was my son the birthday boy!! Who we had dressed in a white shortsleeved button up shirt and white shorts with brown sandles.
