For my daughters 3rd birthday she wanted a wizard of oz theme. Little did I know how difficult it would be to find party supplies so I made almost everything myself. The invitations were made
out of yellow card stock with a brick pattern printed on it. Then I attached white card stock with Follow the yellow brick road to Olivias 3rd birthday" with a rainbow ribbon. The thank
you cards were premade Coroner Lullaby Leauge & lollipop guild on each one. The next room was for the scarecrow with a bale of hay pumpkins and a diploma with degree of THD. Up the stairs
I made a gate out of poster board and contruction paper chains. I put a TV stand on the landing with a timer made out of 2 liter pop bottles glued together at the spout and wood circles on
either side and red sand inside. Then I painted a glass bowl with a thin coat of red paint flipped it over & put a battery operated tealite inside so it looked like it was flickering. The
family room was the forest with 5-6 ft tree decorations and apples that I put all over the room.
I represented the tin man with a funnel painted silver a red heart with hands of a clock on velvet ribbon and the lion with a foam crown with King of the Forrest written on it. I also made a medal of courage. The kitchen was OZ. Everything was two tone green balloons-streamers. Even some emerald colored ornaments found at the dollar store. At the entrance to the kitchen I hung 5 different colored horses. I found a personalized sign that had the emerald city in the backround. All the cups napkins plates ect were green as well. The games were for 2-7 yr olds. Pass the apple (hot potato)twister dance (which is freeze dance but they needed to spin around with arms out like a twister) and a rainbow parachute to get little cut out houses over the rainbow. The cake was made by a neighbor who had a castle pan that sat on top of a sheet cake. The castle was green and it had a yellow brick road leading up to it with poppies on either side. The favors were little baskets. The girls got star wands and the boys got medals. Everyone got rainbow slinkies stickers with rainbows apples & lions. Then it was filled with candy- smarties and candy corn for the scarecrow skittles (taste the rainbow) and animal crakers with a label reading lions tigers and bears oh my! My daugther loved the transformation of the house. Now I have to try to live up to this party with my sons 1st birthday."
