Message in a bottle party Invitation:
Use a water bottle, take the label off, insert tiny sea shells, several small silk flowers (I used ones that looked like they could grow in or around water.) silk leaves, raffia (use the natural raffia and it looks like grass) and a few shiny stars. The invitation says: when, where, time, etc... A picture was pasted on the invitation. It was printed on blue paper. Once printed, it was rolled up and a small piece of painters tape was attached to keep it rolled. Then it was put in the bottle. It cost $ 1.06 per bottle to mail. We hand delivered most of the invitations and mailed the rest. Activities: Every child made a message in a bottle. items for message in bottle: 1. I printed scripture verses on construction paper and laminated them with clear shelving paper. 2. Colored Sand - purchase play sand, fill a bucket with sand and then cover with water then add food coloring, mix well, spread on the empty cardboard flat that the water comes on, let dry in sun 3. Small Sea Shells 4. Raffia 5. Any other small trinket that you may want to add My son's Sunday School Teachers, Grandpa, Dad and I had each written down a special blessing for him to go in his message in a bottle. (Remember how important blessings are in the Bible.) Each person read their special blessing. I had asked each person ahead of time so that they could be part of his special day. Now his bottle will be a lasting memory of the blessings bestowed on him for his baptism. His bottle was with a liter coke bottle so the would be room for the extra paper. Cake: I made a sheet cake with Jonah and the Whale. Lego man with a shark chasing him. Games: Water bottles with sand and messages were dumped into the pool and the kids tried to see who could get the most. (These were ones that I had made up ahead of time, not the ones that the kids made.) Diving for treasures Party favors: message in a bottle that they made, and a sand bucket (I bought the sand bucket on close out at Michael's for 10 cents each.)
