Sophisticated Sleepover Party 11-13yr

November 2011  x

Ruby in Ascot, England

This is a really amazing girl's sleepover/slumber party idea that is meant for girly girls who want something more grown up.  Hope you like it! INVITATIONS: We made our invitations on Microsoft Word, and we used a tool to create a theme colour of mainly dark purple, teal, light purple, pale pink and black. To do this, open Microsoft and click on CHANGE STYLES and then click COLOURS and then CREATE NEW THEME COLOURS. This is a great way of making you own invitations because you can have any colours you want. We chose sophisticated colours as our daughter is very girly and sophisticated. On them, we just wrote basic stuff like where it is, when it is, what to bring, whose party it is and the RSVP.  Then our daughter gave them out at school. TIP: Only invite a few people, because my daughter told us that having too many people causes absolute CHAOS. We invited three people. If you do this, you might want to give out invitations more personally so not to hurt anyone's feelings! :) DECORATIONS: Seeing as we were holding the party mainly at home, we didn't want to go too overboard with the decorations, but we did purchase balloons in dark purple, pink, silver and dark blue as these are our daughter's favourite colours.  We blew these up and put them on the floor in the living room.  ACTIVITIES: This is where the fun begins! Seeing as this was quite a small party, we treated the girls a bit more by taking them out to the cinema to see a 12 rated movie, as my daughter was turning twelve (she watched 12 rated movies before, but had never been allowed to see them in the cinema!) We hired a private screening as well, and the girls thought that this was VERY cool. We provided everyone with drinks, popcorn and sweets during the movie too.  We then went home and ordered a Dominos pizza which tasted AMAZING. Later on in the night, the girls set up their sleeping bags and they just chatted for an hour or so, and after they had finished, we presented our daughter with dozens of little fairy cakes that we had made and decorated with frosting in pink, purple and blue and stuck a candle in each one. Her friends liked this because no one had ever done it before. Then they did more talking, some Hide and Seek in the dark and fell asleep eventually. PARTY SNACKS: Aside from the pizza, popcorn, sweets, cake and McDonalds, we provided lots of drinks and gave them bowls of marshmallows, strawberries and chocolate for when they went to bed and these went down well. In the morning we had a breakfast buffet consisting of fruit, cereal, cooked breakfast and drinks, and we purchases paper plates, cups and plastic cutlery in the theme colours and the girls helped themselves.  FAVORS: My daughter had lots of fun creating these! She used dark blue organza bags, filled them with a notepad, french manicure set, ice cream lip balm and a Lovehearts lipstick sweet.  Everyone loved them!  Every one really enjoyed the party and it hardly cost us a penny!
