My daughter was turning 7 and wanted an Amelia Bedelia Birthday / Sleepover Party. After the panic subsided I was on the hunt for the rarity of the Amelia Bedelia Birthday product. After no
avail on my product search (no paper products, no invitations, no ideas on the computer ANYWHERE!) I decided to get creative! Because there are no such things as Amelia Bedelia paper
products we just picked a Hippie theme (Anne Franke) that my daughter loves and I made a tie dye cake to match. For the invitations I purchased store bought sleepover invitations and printed
my info on them. I put all the important info and added Food and Fun will be served up Amelia Bedelia Style.
After mailing the invitations I moved on to the activities. I printed up an Amelia Bedelia Word Search (you can make your own word search at (www.puzzlemaker.com) I took the generic word search, cut out a clip art picture of Amelia Bedelia looking confused at a piece of paper and scratching her chin, cut it and laid it all together on the copier and Viola had a custom Amelia Bedelia word search . The children did these activities until all the children arrived. Then when everyone arrived the Real Fun started. I made an Amelia Bedelia TO DO LIST. It went something like this Dear Children, Mrs.Rogers has left me this TO DO LIST. I need your help to complete my chores. Mrs.Rogers said to be sure you do exactly what it says on the list. Thank You for you help! Amelia Bedelia. 1. CALL THE ROLE - We took a dinner role and put in the floor and screamed Roll at it until one of the girls said no that is not what she meant she meant take attendance (her mother is a teacher, lol). 2.RUN IRON OVER THE TABLE CLOTH - We took the iron (I held it for safety reasons) and we Ran all over the table cloth until my daughter said that is not what she meant (you get the idea). 3. FIX BABY FOOD FOR THE CHILDREN - I served mini cheeseburgers (white castles) and mini tator tots (baby sized food)( from the book Amelia Bedelia and the baby). 4. PRUNE THE BUSHES -We took prunes (the moist canned kind for the yucky factor) went outside and stuck them on the bushes, until my husband came over and said NO she meant to cut the bushes. 5.DRESS THE CHICKEN - I printed off a picture of a chicken and used photoshop to make clothes that fit him. The kids colored and cut the clothes and pasted them on the chicken until Nana came in and said NO she meant to stuff the chicken with dressing. 6. IN THE EVENING DRAW THE DRAPES - I gave each girl a piece of card stock and a pencil and told them to draw the drapes. They had SUCH fun with this theme!! I believe it sparked an interest in reading, which is always GREAT!
