Western Rodeo Roundup Party 5yr

July 2011 x

Nicole in Fredericksburg, Virginia US

Invitations: Invitations were tickets (like to a Rodeo) that had RSVP included and inivitees were asked to bring their stubs for a special prize. Ticket stubs had numbers on them that coincided with the winning prize ticket numbers. When invitees arrived they were each given a cow bow hat, a sherrifs badge, and a bandana to wear to the party.   Decorations: The party was outside. There were old wanted signs stapled to the trees to include old western history heroes or bad guys. There were plastic bull heads also stapled to trees throughout the yard. The pinata was a cowboy boot and next to it was a rustic red painted sign that read Apples..below the sign was a barrel of apples in the water for bobbing. In the front entrance of the house was a sign that stated Welcome to Carl's Western Rodeo Round Up. There were tables set up with red and white table cloths that held small bails of hay, unshucked corn, and gords.  Activities: A bouncer, face painting, pony rides, and a petting zoo. The petting zoo included ducks, chickens, rabbits, a pot belly pig, alpaca, and a goat, Parents got an opportunity to take the kids and their siblings to any event they desired so this did not have to be as organized.  Games: Bobbing for Apples, horseshoes, pinata, and the prize winning ticket drawing that was pulled out of an extra cowboy hat...the grand prize was harmonica lessons. The kids were given brown paperbags that had Carls Western Rodeo Round Up written on the outide to hold their pinata candy.  Costumes: Kids wore the western wear they were given at the front door so they wore jeans and t-shirts to play.  Party Snacks: A concession stand was set up like an amusement park: corn dogs, tater tots, popcorn, trail mix in a container that looked like a western gold bar, small containers of ketchup and mustard, juice boxes, bottles of water was able to be eaten throughout the party while they participated in the activities.  Cake and favors: The last hour of the party the ice cream truck came as a surprise to everyone and they could order what they wanted. The cake was three tiered and 3D, the top of the cake was a cowboy hat draped in a red bandana, it included a sherrif's badge, and belt buckle. This party was for 5 year olds so they had cup cakes with a badge on top personalized with each of their names. They loved being able to read which cup cake belonged to them. Favors were placed in a silver bucket (like they used for kids lunches in the western days) and was lined with a red and white country napkins. A red and white checkered ribbon was glued around the top part of the bucket..it and included a personalized pencil, a note pad with either a cowboy hat or badge on the front, a real harmonica, harmonica instructions, a toy stuffed horse, and horse lollipops.
