For my daughters first birthday, I wanted to do something fun and original. I knew that she wasn't going to remember it, but I would. SO it had to be special. The Theme was Nursery Rhymes.
Invitations - The invitations were simple. I made little books out of a piece of paper (I learned it in 5th grade, but I couldn't describe how to make it now) Anyway... remembered how they were made so I decided to do that. The front of the book said BIRTHDAY GIRL" The next page said "Please come Join the nursery rhyme fun" the next page said " our little girl Haley is Turning One" the next page stated the details of where and what time her party was. Decorations - Since Haley's party was at a school we could do much for decorations. So her daddy cut out a giant shoe out of plywood. We cut out windows and painted it. I added some curtains. This worked as decoration and a fun thing for the kids to take pictures in. This was "the little old lady who lived in a shoe" we also taped red construction paper(they were numbered)on the wall (this was humpty dumpty) Games - I knew Haley wouldn't play any of the games but i wanted it to be fun for the other kids that were there. So i cut a whole bunch of mittens out of construction paper and hid them around the cafeteria. This was "the three little kittens" the kid who found the most mittens won a special prize. The next game was "put humpty back on the wall" (variation of Pin the tail on the donkey". Cake - My sister helped me with some cupcakes and we iced them with a grass tip. I took flower cookies i got at the dollar store and put a gum drop through the middle. Then took a sucker stick and put it through the gum drop and put it in the cupcake. This was "Mary Mary quite contrary's garden" Party favors - I put tons of toys/candy in little bags. Some toys were spiders "the itsy bitsy spider" and I also had star erasers for "twinkle twinkle little star" that's about it. TILL NEXT TIME!"
