For my 11th b-day, I got the idea to have sort of a glitter and glamour theme.
The color scheme was deep purple, magenta, aqua blue and of course: gold! I wanted to make practically everything sparkle! INVITATIONS: I took a piece of aqua blue paper and typed up all the party info in a swirly font. Then, I brushed on a layer of glitter glue on both sides of the paper and rolled it up. I secured it with a piece of magenta star garland. The invites looked really cool! You could also attach a ringpop or something to the garland to make the invitations fancier! DECORATIONS: When I decorate for a party, I usually like to make the table the focal point. This party was no different! I put my Mom's lace tablecloth on the dining table and sprinkled on gold star confetti. I draped a long magenta star garland around the table, pinning it up every few feet. I bought a funky happy Birthday!ť Mylar balloon at a party store and had it inflated, along with an aqua blue balloon and a magenta one. To make a balloon weight, I used a rock. I tied ribbons in magenta, purple, gold and blue around the rock with lots of excess and curled them. I also wrapped star garlands around the rock and hot glued on a jump ring (to slip the balloons through). I then wrapped the rock in blue cellophane, letting the top puff out, along with all the ribbons and star garlands. I tied ribbons to the balloons, slipped them through the jump ring and placed my fabulous decoration on the table. FOOD: Along with the regular old chips and cheezies, I wanted to add a special themed delicacy. I made homemade marshmallows (recipe on http://www.webkinz.com/us_en/cc_recipe_pink_marshmallow.html and cut them into stars. I stuck sparkly party picks in the marshmallows and dipped them in chocolate. Then I dipped them in pink sugar sprinkles to make them sparkly. I put these on a deep purple plate. I also made superstar sparkling spritzersť (ginger-ale, cranberry juice, lemon-aid) and served them in plastic martini glasses with rhinestones around the rims. I also bought deep purple napkins. ACTIVITIES: I decided that for this party, instead of doing lots of games, we could focus more on crafts and activities. I set up our coffee table as the craft table with a deep purple table cover and gold star confetti. Glittery charm bracelets: I cut a length of narrow satin ribbon for each guest, then add a few beads. Then, we attached various gold charms to jump rings and had everyone choose 4 to put on their bracelet. Sparkly manicures: I set out purple, pink and blue nailpolish (which I already had at home) and we painted each other's nails. Then, I let everyone a decorate their nails with sparkly nail polish and a star-shaped nail stickers. Glitter gel: I had everyone mix up 2 tbsp loose body glitter with 1 tsp Vaseline and a few drops of perfume. We put the gel in tubes and allowed the guests to decorate them with rhinestones, glitter glue and gems. After all the activities, we watched a movie and went to sleep (NOT!). CAKE: I got a small round cake from DQ and had them write HAPPY 11th B-DAY SARAH!ť on it in purple. I lit a sparkler and stuck it in the middle of the plate, then added glittery birthday candles all around. I placed the cake on platter covered in gold foil and pink sugar sprinkles. Yum!!! FAVOURS: At the beginning of the party, I gave everyone a cellophane bag with a sparkly pencil, a ringpop, assorted candy, glitter nail polish, sparkling jewelry (10 for $5 claire's sale), etc. I tied up the bags with gold ribbon and curled it. Have a glamorous glitter party!
