My son loves Scooby Doo and wanted to have a Scooby Doo party for his 6th birthday. I got so many ideas from this website and we had an amazing mystery party. All of the kids really enjoyed it and are still talking about the mystery.   Invitations:  I just used store bought invitations and did not mention anything about a mystery.  Decorations:  We had some scooby doo banners and balloons, scooby doo table cloths and scooby doo plates and napkins. The party was outside with a Scooby Doo bounce house...so we didn't need much else.  Activities/Games/Food:  The kids bounced in the bouncehouse and played outside until time for dinner. We grilled hamburgers and had the usual sides. After dinner, I asked the kids if they wanted cupcakes. Of course they all wanted one and had to get in their seats before I could bring them out. I went inside to get the cupcakes and came out with a note. I told the kids the cupcakes were gone and in their place was this note. I read the note aloud to them which said, Birthday gang  you have a mystery to solve.  I know you can do it if you all get involved. I'm the birthday ghost and I have your cupcakes. If you want one too here's your first clue listen carefully so you'll know what to do: Clue # 1: Find the place of paint and figure out what to do. Once you are finished you'll have clue #2".  While I was reading this clue (we were in the back of the house) my husband placed an easel with some paint pens out in the front yard. On the easel was a piece of white paper which I had written the next clue on with white crayon. The kids had to find the easel and then figure out that they needed to paint the paper and the clue would appear. The clue on the paper said "Clue # 2: Find a ghost that is for play. Spill his guts and he'll show you the way."   While the kids were painting the paper my husband hung a ghost pinata on the opposite side of the house for the next game. In the pinata I had the regular pinata stuffers but also made lollipop ghosts by tying white coffee filters over tootsie pops and drawing eyes on them. One of the ghosts had a tag with the next clue on it. Once the kids found the pinata I gave them each a bag to collect goodies and told them to lookout for the next clue. The clue tied to the lollipop said "Clue # 3: Find some ghostly creatures that look like a treat.  Using ONLY your mouth grab one to eat. But be aware of what you do hiding somewhere within will be your next clue".  While the kids were doing the pinata my husband was setting up the next game.  A few days prior I had made some rice krispie treats into the shape of a ghost and put a popsicle stick in them. I then covered one side of them with melted white chocolate and used 2 chocolate chips for the eyes. I found some foam that would float and cut it into 4 inch square pieces and cut a slit through the middle of each so that a rice krispie ghost stick could fit into a piece of foam and float in a bucket of water. I had a bucket filled with water outside before the party so all my husband had to do was put the floating ghosts in the water. On the bottom of one of the foam pieces I had written the last clue. Once the kids found the ghost treats they each grabbed one using only their mouth and looked for the last clue which said "Clue #4: You are on your own from here on out keep your head down and you'll figure it out. Run and search for your last clue once you see it you'll know what to do".  While they were eating their ghost treats my husband prepared the final part of the mystery. I cut out white footprint shapes so my husband put them on the ground leading up the stairs into the house. He went in the house and put on a ghost costume (a white sheet with black eyes glued on). The cupcakes were on the table next to him. The kids found the footprints and followed them into the house to find the ghost and the cupcakes. They had so much fun pulling the costume off to reveal that it was just Mason's daddy.  Cake: We then all went back outside to sing happy birthday and have cupcakes. The cupcakes were decorated with scooby doo sprinkles and had scooby doo toppers on them. Favors: Party favors were goody bags with scooby doo masks scooby doo gliders scooby doo blow-outs a scooby doo math book that i found at the dollar store scooby doo fruit snacks and their pinata candy.  The party was a big hit. My kids continue to ask me for another mystery.  "
