Neverland Party - (Fairies, Pirates, Indians, Peter Pan, Tinkerbell) 5 year old My 5 year old daughter wanted a Fairy Birthday party, as boys would be attending, we needed a broader
theme.
We picked Neverland. Invitations - We didn't find anything we liked, so we picked floral paper & decorated them with fairy stickers for our invitations which read "The Fairies of Neverland invite the Lost Boys, Pirates, Indians and their other Fairy friends to Name's 5th Birthday party. Think happy thoughts and fly second star to the right and straight on til morning (address) Time & Date If you believe in Fairies say I do, I do and rsvp to....Dress in your best Neverland attire." I didn't realize it, but the kids were excited when they got the invitations. They were so excited to dress-up. We had lots of fairies & pirates, but we also had Tiger Lily, Wendy and Tinkerbelle. Decorations - We decorated the backyard with a pirate ship made out of a refrigerator box, a Tipi we purchased(ebay) and a fairy tent we made from a bed canopy(we hot-glued artificial flowers on it.) We also hung ribbon halos and wands with ribbons all over the patio to give it a festive air. Games - When they children arrived, we used catching bubbles to play the first game. The Fairies wanted the kids to prove they believed in Neverland by catching a bubble. Bubbles are always fun and magical for kids and adults. The girls received a fairy wand, halo with ribbons down the back and wings(haloheaven.com). As many girls arrived wearing wings, we passed these out as they left the party. The boys received a pirate sword/patch & hat (ebay). The wands/swords were a big hit. They played with these during the party, jumping in the pirate ship, hiding in the Teepee or visiting the fairy tent. They were having such a good time, that we didn't interrupt with the other games we had planned. I did have a couple of friends who volunteered to paint faces. We invited anyone who wanted to have their face-painted to visit the Indian Tipi. We did simple painting, butterflies, hearts, crowns and pirate scars for the boys. After that the birthday fairy (my daughter) told the children that the Fairies knew where the pirate treasure was. She gave them the first clue for a treasure hunt. They raced around the yard/house following clues until they discovered the Pirate Treasure (Treasure Chrest Pinata). Now, the birthday Fairy told them they would have to break open the chest as no one had the key. The pinata was stuffed with Pixie sticks, fairy candy, little confetti candy, pirate/fairy tattoos and pirate stickers(ebay). Once the pinata was done, we went in for the cake. We purchased a cake from a local bakery with lots of flowers and 3 large marzipan fairies. It was amazing. As an alternative cake, you could also do the pirate ship on familyfun.com which we had done the year before for my son's birthday party. It was also very impressive. After the cake, the kids raced outside to keep playing. While I always have a few games...just in case, I've been amazed at how much fun they have playing in the Pirate Ship(refrigerator box). I thought it might be a bit goofy, but the kids loved it. We had a couple of extra boxes in bushes for pirate caves. Thank-Yous- My daughter made thank-you's by drawing a fairy on cardstock. We wrote the thank yous together and included "Fairy Poem" by William Allingham, as well as Pirate & Fairy Tattoo's left from the party. I love this site. It's always been super helpful in putting together a fun party for the kids and adults. Everyone always has a good time and can't wait to see what we come up with next year.
