For my son's 5th birthday, we had a Peter Pan and the Pirates Party.
I copied art from the Disney web site for the invitation. We had the party at a local rec center with both indoor and outdoor space. My son wore a Peter Pan outfit. Everyone was given a balloon sword, eye patch and pirate hat upon arrival. On the stage, we placed a giant homemade pirate ship complete with steering wheel made from two half plastic ones from the party store taped together, an anchor hanging off the side, two masts with sails, and a crow's nest. To get off the stage, they had to "walk the plank" over a "sea of plastic crocodiles." A giant stuffed crocodile was posed next to the ship with it's mouth open and a clock inside. They played "following the leader" as they went on a treasure hunt where they each found their own locking plastic treasure chest filled with a plastic croc, jewels, gold coins, and gummy crocodiles. The girls got a little mermaid in their treasure chest along with the jewels and gold coins. They played "pass the cannon ball" by throwing black round water balloons back and forth to each other. I found lots of full-size cardboard art of all of the characters on ebay to decorate the center. The tables were decorated with pirate pinatas as the centerpieces, gold coins, jewels, and "pixie dust" on a plastic treasure map tablecloth. For food I served "pirate booty", cannon balls (malted milk balls), and hot dogs turned into pirate ships by putting skewers and sails on them. The cake was decorated with waves and an island. I placed a pirate ship with Peter Pan dueling Hook on the cake with a plastic croc next to the ship. On the island was a plastic treasure chest and palm tree.
