For my son's 4th birthday, he wanted a Peter Pan birthday party, so we transformed our home into Neverland. The outside area was "Mermaid Lagoon", with wading pools, and we put up blue streamers(water) and cutouts of sea creatures (crabs, fish, etc.).  Also outside was "Skull Rock", this is where we put out toys for the kids to ride on and played party games. The living room was "Pirate Point Beach", where we set up tables for the guests to eat. We used my kids' plastic bath squirtees (sea creatures), beach balls, and fishnet to create a beach scene. (Streamers and balloons in aqua and yellow) Also I made a palm tree from cardboard (painted long rectangular cardboard  piece brown for the trunk, cut out palm leaves and painted them bright green) I cut a few slits in the upper trunk and then placed small dark burgundy balloons in them to look like coconuts.  The kitchen was "Pirates' Cove", and we hung metallic parrot cutouts from the ceiling and used parrot napkins. On the end of the food table I placed a black flag (I made it from felt and put sword pictures on it) so the table would look like a pirate ship.  For the cake my sister made a Neverland scene with Hook's ship in the water and Peter Pan sword fighting. Games: Pin the X on the treasure map (I took a large piece of paper and sketched a Neverland map, then I tea-stained it), treasure hunt( I gave each child a picture of a Neverland character. Outside they hunted for  balloon with a matching picture taped on the outside of it. Once they found their balloon, the adults helped them use a mini plastic party sword to pop the balloon. Inside was a one-word clue, and when all the clues were put together, they told the location of the treasure. For the treasure chest, I spray-painted a styrofoam cooler brown, then glued wide gold ribbon and sequins on it. (candy, super balls, Peter Pan crackers inside).  For crafts each child colored a Peter Pan coloring page which I kept and put in a "Happy Birthday" book for my son. Kids also made pirate spyglasses (from TP tubes). We filled black water balloons and the kids had a Cannonball Toss. Thank you to the others on this site whose ideas helped me create a wonderful party for my son!
