My son loved Pirates of the Caribbean. For invitations. I typed up the following:
Ahoy There Matey! Ye BEWARE Captain (child's Name) is having a celebration to kick-off his 6th(his age) Voyage through the four seasons.Voyage commences on (Date of the Party) if ye dare!Pier: (Location of Party and Time).Squawk TO Cap't (CHild's name) at (phone number) if ye be attending Pirate Garb Optional Pirate Grub Furnished Don't ye be a dilly dallying or ye shark bait, matey. ARGH!! I used a chiller" font. Then once the invitations were printed. I crumbled up the invitations and soaked them in coffee and let them dry then toar the ends to make them look old. Decorations were red and black. Parrots chains fish net sea creatures were on the tables. For cake we had a chocolate sheet cake with a purchased set of Pirate of the Caribbean figures.(son enjoyed playing with them after) Cupcakes surrounded the cake. They had a shark fin (make from construciton paper) in them. It looked like sharks were sourounding the cake. We played two games. the first one was sink the ship. I make two boats from cardboard. Placed them opposite sides of each other with a blue tarp in the middle (water) The pirates were divided into teams and for five minutes they threw cannon balls (ping pong balls) at each other. If a ball landed in their ship it was dead in the game. Whoever had the most balls was sunk and had to walk the plank. A baby pool filled with water and sea creatureswith a board across. Of course me mom dressed as captain jack was making them walk the plank in pirate talk. THey loved it. THe next game we had kids divide into teams of two. One had a balloon tied to their leg. Their partner had to try to pop the balloon while they ran around. The team that popped first won. Everyone else had to walk the plank. For party hats we had do-rags of different colors. For party favors: brown bottled root beer labled "Grog": SPecially brewed on (child's dob) in celebration of future capt'n (child's name) Then each child got "booty". A bag of Hershey kisses and rolos with a lable stating "Booty" Discoved at latitude (street number) longitude (street name) intersecting at (closest intersection) They also receivd a 3" x 5" pirate flag. The kids loved it. My son and I were both dressed as Captain Jack. HE still talks about it. "
