We moved to Savannah a year ago and my son became obsessed with going to the fort". We toured Fort Pulaski and then ate at the Pirate House. Instantly it became his "new thing".
So for his 5th birthday he wanted a pirate party at the fort. We called and asked if we would be able to "hide treasure" throughout the fort just to be sure. To start the party out
we played a pirate party CD we found at the party supply store. As our guests arrived they sat at the pirate decorated picnic table and began a pirate craft. I bought wooden shapes that came
with markers to color them in. Each kid also got to choose a pirate tatoo! This gave the kids time to get aquainted and parents time to talk! Once everyone was finished we ate. I made a
variety of sandwiches cut into triangles with pirate toothpic flags sticking out of them cannon ball grapes and watermelon chips and a pirate cake with pirate punch! Then we sang opened
presents and took turns hitting the skull/pirate pinata filled with candy and the first "clue". My husband and I premade each kid a "loot bag" with skull/cross bones
ironed on the front of the canvas bags. Each bag was labeled with the guest name on a small piece of brown bag wrinkled and burned on the edges tied on with ribbon. As the kids slowly opened
the pinata they put the cany in their bags. We also made a bunch of clues written on wrinkled up and burned on the edges brown bags. when the pinata busted they found the first of the clues
laying with all the candy. First clue led loot seekers to the fort! Inside the fort we symstemmatically left red paper bags with pirate flags made out of wood glued the front with loot for
all the kids. As the kids found a new clue they recieved a prize. The first prize was a compass on a string for each of them to wear on their search for the treasure! the next clue gave them
eye patches the 3rd gave them bandanas because they were becoming pirates quickly! The next clue gave them calidescopes to look towards Tybee Island where the treasure was buried! We all
hoped into the car and drove to the lighthouse where my husband was ahead of us and buried the treasure on the beach in this old treasure box. When we arrived at the beach we found a bucket
of shovels with the last clue that the treaure was 15 paces away! The kids got their shovels and ran!!! Inside the treasure box was chocolate dollars beaded necklaces jewel rings and candy
ofcourse! After that we stayed and played on the beach with the rafts that were also part of the treasure! great party and parents are still asking me about it!!
We are saving all the clues to do it again for my daughters 5th birthday.
