Pirate Party......My son wanted a pirate party for his 7th birthday because of the Pirates of the Caribian movie.  So I came to this site and pretty much incorporated everyones ideas. The boys were greeted with bandans, eye patches(made out of fun foam), a sash (strips cut from red & white striped material) and a mustache.  They thought this was awesome!!!  They then went to the craft table where they decorated their treasure chests (plastic index card boxes from the dollar store) with fun foam shapes and stick on earrings.  Then we went to play "X marks the spot".  I made my own treasure map out of a brown bag and the boys had to see who got closest to the treasure chest with their die-cut x (similar to pun the tail on the donkey). Meanwhile my friend and I were filling their chests with goodies (ring pops, coins (chocolate and plastic), swedish fish, tatoos, rings, beads, paper money, pirate figurines and compases.)so we could put them in the big chest for the treasure hunt.  The next game was the sink the ship game.  Each team had to throw cannon balls (newspaper ball) in to the other teams ship (boxes decorated like ships) and the losers had to walk the plank (a piece of wood elevated by books) we blind folded them and they thought it was great!  Even the winners walked the plank!  Then we had cake and ice cream. They were doing some free play in the play room when the doorbell rang and someone delivered a message, the first clue. We had 4 clues around the house and the last one led them to the bathroom where the tub was filled with black balloons.  They had to pop their cannonballs to see who had the last clue (the others were filled with smarties).  The boy that found it was so excited.  I just printed up a picture of a washing machine, they went to my laundry room where they open the doors and there was the chest (styrofoam cooler) with all of their chests inside!!!  They looked thru their goodies while my son opened his presents!!! The party was 2 hours long and this was just right.  As soon as he was done opening presents parents started arriving. I also made balloon swords and decided to give them these as they left because 10 boys and swords could get a little crazy!!!  I wouldn't have been able to do it wothout this site!  Thanks to all!
