For my son's 4th birthday, he wanted a pizza party. I called one of our local pizza places and asked if they could make their own pizzas. Although the kids are not allowed in the
kitchen, they allowed us to make our own pizzas, then they baked them for us, and provided all the toppings. I made personalized place mats that had pictures of food on them for each
child as a party favor, then had them professionally laminated ($3 per 8 1/2 x 14 page). I also made chef hats for each child:
using white poster board as the band for their head, then using tissue paper for the top. All the kids got candy to take home, and the chef's hats held it all perfectly! For the games, the pizza place has a few arcade games, so we had plenty of quarters on hand, and we played "pin the pepperoni on the pizza". For the cake, a "pizza" cake, with red frosting for the "sauce", and sprinkled white chocolate for the "cheese", then Fruit Roll-ups for the "pepperoni", and some fruit to substitute the other toppings: bananas for "mushrooms" and grapes for "olives". Served in a pizza box, of course! For the invitations, I printed a picture of a pizza on one side of card stock and wrote "Special Delivery..." under the picture. On the other side, it read: "...Just for YOU! Any way you 'slice' it, Jonah's turning 4! Please come to a 'make your own pizza' Pizza Party! Here are the 'cheesy' details, 'topped' with fun!" I made each one on 5x5 card stock and got some cd/dvd envelopes with the plastic window in them. The pizza and "special delivery" showed through the window. I was about 50 cents to send it through the mail, but they were sooo cute!
