Party Supplies

For my son's 7th birthday, we threw a Pokemon Party. The invitation was done on our computer. I had scanned a Pokemon trading card and recreated it, using his age 7 YRS in the corner and the attack was: Birthday Fun! with all the RSVP info on it. I used a picture of Pikachu with a birthday cake and birthday clip art for the images. We decided to have the party at our local community center, just so we had some room. We decorated the room with red, blue and yellow tablecloths and a Pokemon tablecloth at the cake table as well as my son's stuffed Pokemon on each table. I made Driffloons (the balloon Pokemon) by decorating helium balloons with eyes and x's made on a Xyron sticker machine and construction paper hearts attached to the ribbon arms. When the guests arrived, they each got a pokeball name tag (made on the computer with the Pokemon font from dafont.com) attached to lanyard string. Then they made Pikachu hats, face-painted themselves like Pikachu (black nose, red checks) and made Pokemon out of modeling clay. Once everyone arrived, we started the Piplup Bubble Blast game. I created a shooting gallery of 5 different Pokemon pictures attached to cardboard circles, attached to a PVC frame with fishing wire. The kids used a Nerf ball shooter to make them spin. Then they did a Palkia and Diagla bean bag toss game. I borrowed a bean bag game form the in-laws and taped the Pokemon's pics to it. Then they did Pin-the-Tail on Charmander and Pokemon Twister. I printed out pics of Piplup, Picachu, Chimchar and Turtwig and cut them out and pasted them on the corresponding color circles. So it was Left Hand, Chimchar! etc. We also did Team Rocket's Balloon Blast. I put a target on the floor with Team Rocket on it and all the kids had to blow up a balloon and let it go on the count of 3, whoever got closest to the target won. After each game they got a sticker gym badge created on the sticker machine and each kid got an award ribbon at the end for being the best at a game or some other thing (most energetic etc.) I ordered a cake from the bakery, but bought fondant at the craft store and made a Pokeball by drying two halves on plastic baseballs. Then I filled the bottom half with gumballs before attaching the two halves together with frosting and a decorating it with the black band center. I put Pokemon figurines I got off Ebay of Palkia and Diagla on top of the Pokeball and finished the cake with rest of the Pokemon figurines and lightning bolts I cut out of fondant and dried. The kids loved it when my son opened the Pokeball and there was candy inside. The guests each got an Amazing Pokemon Guidebook I found online in lieu of goody bags (8 for $5), as well as their Picachu hats, a Driffloon and their clay Pokemon. They watched a Pokemon cartoon while we were wrapping things up and waiting for parents. Everyone had a great time and my son said it was the bestest party ever!
