Pokemon  Party -7 year old Last year Jess was very 'into' pokemon. At that time in the UK there weren't any ready made Pokemon party things. We bought plain plates and drew various Pokemon characters on them. We made a Pikahcho cake by making a flat slab of sponge and cutting out the shape, bits that we cut off made ears, arms and feet and decorated it with liquorice laces, cherries and those icing writing tubes. We painted a large box yellow and cut as many trap doors in the bottom as there were guests. Each trap door had a different character and a long ribbon dangling We hoisted it up to the ceiling ! As we played games, the winner was allowed to pick his/her favorite pokemon character so that at the end of the party they could pull down that trap door. having something at the end of the event did wonders for anticipation and good behavior! those that didn't win were allotted a character too. to a great fanfare of !-2-3 hooray ,each child pulled a ribbon one at a time (this take up loads of party time !),confetti, streamers balloons, sweets (candy) and a small plastic pokemon character (same as trap door drawing) fell out and they kept all as party favors. We painted plain balloons with characters and played Pokemon music to dance to. On arriving each guest was given a few pokemon cards from a large pack and they instantly set about 'swapping' amongst themselves, so that they were occupied while others arrived and settled. they all had mini burgers and fries in boxes painted with characters. these boxes were used to take home the contents of the pokemon box as a napkin had kept the boxes clean We also had lots of those special balloons that can be twisted into shapes and prizes were awarded for the balloon creation that most resembled a pokemon, of course All of them did!  This party went very quickly and can be easily applied to any other character that becomes fashionable. This year we are having a Nintendo knock out car race session . Each guest will have a racing number on their back and we'll have a chalk scoreboard. I hope it goes as well as last year!!
