Our seven year old daughter loves Pokemon - so we held a Pokemon theme party.
This theme was pretty easy since there is a plethora of Pokemon licensed merchandise out there. We decorated the table with Pokemon table cloth, plates, napkins and confetti. We decorated the house with Pokemon streamers and posters, and hung Pokemon collector cards all over the walls of the "entrance & party area" with Pokemon stickers. We created personalized "Official Pokemon Trainer Badges" using graphics we downloaded off of the website (www.pokemon.com), so each child could be a trainer. We made Pokeball cupcakes (made very easily with white icing and a bottle of black sprinkles for the center strip, and red sprinkles for the bottom half, the button could be any kind of candy - we used Mentos). We pre-cut out four sheets of tattoos and let the children choose their favorites and where they wanted them. We had hot-dogs for lunch and then played Pin the Tail on the Pikachu. (If you can't find a large poster, you can make one with an overhead projector and some markers). We played musical chairs to the Pikachu soundtrack music, great beat to get the kids moving. We opened presents, using a Pokeball as the (hot potato/gift selector). In terms of party favors, there is no end to the Pokemon stuff to put in bags (pencils, erasers, stickers, collector cards, pokeballs, figurines, etc...) I think I had as much fun as the kids did. To calm them down before their parents arrived, they relaxed with their goodies and watched a Pokemon movie. Hope some of these ideas help. Plan well & have a great time!!!
