Horse Party 6yr

February 2006

Horse Party 6y/o girl January 2006 I bought the Horse Power Deluxe Party Pack from Birthday Express. It was great, it included plates, napkins, cups, cutlery, streamers, curling ribbon, balloons including one mylar and some helium in bandana print, candles, confetti, table cover and placemats which I laminated so they could use them for the party and take them home. Also for decorations I cut up old horse calenders that I picked up for a dollar they were beautiful pictures of horses and hung them ALL around the party area with the streamers, it was very festive. I also made a Happy Birthday sign out of a cardboard box, I made to look like an old wooden sign. On my Computer I made a wanted poster with my daughter's picture in it and it read- Wanted for Horsin' Around, She goes by ---  "Birthday Girl" Ramos, Turing 6 today, these were hung up too. I had bought a singing horse head from LTD (kids loved it!!!) and Cowboy hats and scarfs from OTC. I set up a picture area with a handmade cactus, a "old" sign that read stable, Spirit Stuffed Horse, and a Bail of hay. The kids were more than happy to get thier picture taken with thier hats and scarf's on. I printed the pictures out during the party so they were ready to take home. For the craft I bought little chalk boards, the decorated them with western styled foam beads purchased through OTC. We played some great games, a barnyard bean bag toss, sugar cube relay, balloon pop game, and of course pin the tail on the donkey. I made a horseshoe cake- very simple. Food consisted of Steamed Hot Dogs, Chili, Tortilla Chips and potato chips served in tin pails,  Uncrustables PB&J (for the pickey eaters), and a vegetable tray and S'MORE cookies- yummy, and red licorice served in an old mason jar. The goodie bags consisted of small star shaped pads, a plush horse pen, putty eye horses (these are hysterical!), Small plastic horses, small plush bags that I put in small bandana printed tote bags, horseshoe magnets, chalk for thier craft, gold mine gum all purchased through OTC then I added small horse puzzles and horse stickers and sticker books purchased for a dollar at the local craft store. All the kids loved it especially my daughter. Although, I would have loved to do this party outside and had a horse or pony show up for horse or pony rides. I also would have loved to do potato sack or three legged races. Alas we live in Massachusetts, January is no month to plan an outdoor party. The kids didn't miss what wasn't there.
