For my son's 4th birthday we decided on a Winnie the Pooh picnic in the Hundred Acre Wood. To make the invitations I took a picture of my son in our yard. I layed out a picnic blanket and put
a picnic basket on top with pooh bear sitting on it. I had my son kneel behind the basket hugging Pooh. I always take a whole roll of film to make sure I get the best shot. I then took a
piece of 8 1/2 x 11 red cardstock and cut it in half and then folded them over to make cards. I cropped the picture of my son and used a white mat behind it. I then mounted that on red and
white gingham paper and glued it to the red cardstock. I found cute Pooh picnic stickers and bee stickers and put a Pooh sticker on the bottom right corner and a bee sticker in the top left
corner. For the inside I used the same gingham paper and printed the party info. on it and glued it to the cardstock. It read, "You're invited to a picnic in the Hundred Acre Wood to
celebrate Devon's 4th birthday!" (then the rest of the party info.) We decided to have the party at our house. We had about 35 adults and 20 children ranging in age from babies to 6. We
have a decorative canopy that I used as the children's eating area and transformed it to look like the Hundred Acre Wood. I made a sign out of brown poster board that said Hundred Acre Wood(I
used black paint)and hung it from the front of the canopy. I then made trees using brown poster board for the trunk and green for the tops and put these on every corner of the canopy at the
bottom. I hung long pieces of greenery that I found at the dollar store all over. On the wall behind the canopy I hung a big poster of Pooh and friends in the woods that I found folded in a
Pooh coloring book. I also hung bees and butterflys that I found at the craft store. I borrowed child size picnic tables from friends and set them up under the canopy. I covered them with red
and white checked tablecloths. For centerpieces I made honey pots filled them with beans and stuck in a Pooh stick balloon. Then sprinkled the table with bits of honey candy and Pooh
confetti. To make the honey pots I bought clay pots at craft store for $1.4o a piece and spray painted them brown then painted the top a yellow/gold color to look like dripping honey then
using black paint wrote HUNNY in the middle. The rest of the house was decorated with Pooh balloons, banners and confetti. The dining room table for the adults buffet had Pooh tablecloth with
picnic basket on top with Pooh sitting on it holding a balloon and Pooh confetti. When guests arrived we led them to the craft area. We had a table set up with play dough that was scented
that my son and I made and lots of rollers and cookie cutters that fit the theme. The other craft was making flower pots for their picnic tables. I bought plastic pots at dollar store. They
then decorated pots with all sorts of stickers and wrote their names on. I had baskets laid out with fake flowers, beans to fill pots with and brown crinkle paper for dirt. Also had
lollipops, green pipe cleaners and wired leaves to make lollipop flowers. Kids and parents loved this craft. The first game was a Tigger sack race. Used Pooh material to make sacks and had
kids hop like Tigger (relay style) to the finish line. Everyone wins at my parties. All the kids received bear chenille masks as prizes. Then took a group picture-so cute.(found the masks at
dollar store-lucky find) Second game was honey pot toss. Used a big pot painted same as above. Had children toss bees into pot.(bees were finger puppets I found at toy store)For prizes every
child received gummy bears I wrapped in Pooh head bags. The kids then played in Tigger bounce house we rented. Next the kids sat down for lunch. Every child was given a basket(found at dollar
store)with red & white checked napkin lying in it. They each had a Pooh juice box, bear cut out PB&J, bag of chips, Pooh fruit snacks and a Pooh napkin. The adults ate picnic fare -
salads, watermelon & sandwich trays. After lunch we did a Pooh pinata with Pooh loot bags. Next my son opened presents. I decorated a chair for him to sit in with a big Pooh bear next to
him and laid out checked tablecloths on the grass for everyone to sit on. I also used baskets to put presents in to stick with the theme. Finally it was cake time. Had local bakery make a 1/2
sheet cake with big tree and woodsy details along with Pooh figures and a Pooh candle. For favors I made 20 honey pots as described above. Inside for kids 4 and younger put Pooh learning
activity book, teddy grahams, Pooh collectible figure, Pooh card game, bear shape play-doh maker, balloon punch ball, bird caller,Pooh blowout,Pooh pez, fruit shaped candy powder and bit of
honey candies. For older kids ommitted Pooh game, figure & book and added a musical jumprope. I found almost all of these items at the dollar store. You have to go often and to different
locations to find items you need. I start shopping 2 to 3 months in advance and am always keeping my eye out for theme related items. Party stores, craft stores and even grocery stores for
theme related food items are also great sources. Thank you to this site for all the wonderful ideas I've used for all my parties.
