For my son's 5th birthday we had an indoor pool party. His birthday is in early March when it is still pretty cold outside, so the kids LOVED the idea of being able to swim while it is still
40 degrees outside. We scheduled it at the local YMCA and gave it a beach party theme. We sent out tropical fish invitations and for party favors I bought those inexpensive beach pales with
the shovel. As each parent would RSVP, I would ask them to please join the fun if their child wasn't the best swimmer, and with a paint pen I would write the child's' name on the bucket. My
son and I picked out all kinds of "beach type" party favors(gold coins for treasure, plastic fish, etc.). After swimming the children changed into dry clothes and in the party room
we had decorated it with the same "fish/beach" themed items. On the table I rolled out plane sheets of paper (you can buy rolls at office supply stores) and spread out
"tropical fish" confetti down the center. Each child was given crayons and invited to color on the paper at their seat about their swimming adventure that with my son( this kept the
kids busy while they were waiting for the others to get dressed). We kept the paper for looking at later. We later used postcards from tropical locations(from a trip to Hawaii and we had
friends that live in Florida pick some up and send them to us) to use as Hankyu cards. We took pictures of each child having fun in the water and sent one to each child for their own special
reminder of the day. This was definitely a FUN, GREAT party.
