Clone Wars Pool Party 9yr

August 2008

Shawn in Wichita Falls, Texas, USA

My 9 year old Star Wars fanatic wanted to have a pool party this year. It would have been very easy to just make it a beach or pool theme, but he of course wanted to incorporated Star Wars into the party.   Invitations-  After scouring over all the websites, I chose to send out Lego Star Wars invitations, since the Clone Wars party ones weren't out. This was cut and pasted onto a file and printed on thick paper. I mentioned in the invite that we would be having Jedi Trials, various pool competitions (biggest cannonball, ect) in which I gave Star Wars prizes to the winners, and a Jedi vs Sith snowball fight.  The local Bahama Bucks made about 80 for us.  It was such a huge hit.   Decorations and Activities. Per the site, I made Lightsabers  out of Fun Noodles, with a few of my own modifications. I did these ahead of time, but it would be a great activity  to do at the party. Color does matter believe it or not, it's a good guy, bad guy thing so ask your little one what he thinks they mean and you will know which colors to go for.  I started by cutting them in half, then wrapping handles with duct tape (2 strips side by side).  Then I put electrical tape on the bottom and the top of the duct tape.  I then put a small square of the electrical tape on it to look like the on off button. The boys suggested that, they thought that was very important. They spent most of the time sword fighting with them.  We had the Jedi Trials by lining the boys up at the diving board and tossing a  ball to them as they jumped into the air. This was very challanging, so they couldnt get enough of it. I also got great pics, which I plan to use to make a collage for the thank you note. I gave the light sabers away as party favors. Party Snacks- I did the Wookie Cookies, Yoda Sodas, The Force Fruit Tray and other little rhymie, silly treats.  But really the kids drank lots of water and Caprisuns. They were too busy to really appreciate the food.  They thought it was all funny. The cake was hard.  I could find exactly what I wanted. I went with a design I saw on the internet that showed 2 light sabers crossing, and the words May the force be with you".  I found a great Clone Trooper Bobblehead that fit perfectly. I can send pics if anyone wants. It turned out so cute.  Everyone had a wonderful time and I am still hearing how much the kids loved the snowball fight.  That particular day it was 107*.        "
