We decided to have a rockstar themed limo party for my son's 10th birthday. I purchased badge holders and lanyards from a local office supply store and made Backstage Passes" for
invitations.
The front read "BackStage Pass- for the coolest party in town!" The back of the pass contained all of the party information- where when etc. and told the kids to "Get ready to Party...The limo arrives at 2pm" I sent the invitations out in padded envelopes along with a note asking the kids to wear the passes to the party. When the kids arrived I gave them each a pair of sunglasses ($1 at the Dollar Store). I decorated the house with gold stars and directors clap boards (all from oriental trading) When the limo arrived it rolled out the red carpet and the reporters (my husband and I) took pictures of the boys in front of the limo. We all got in (mom dad and 8 boys) and drove around for about 20 minutes. I took soda and snacks in the limo with us. We drove to the mall where we then had a photo scavenger hunt. (I had to to get this approved with mall security first) I had printed up our own tabloids- the Daily Star- and told the kids they needed to fill the paper with pictures. There were several pages with headlines and instructions but no pictures. For example one page read- "Dude Looks Like a Lady!! Famous rockstar gets caught trying on girly accessories at store in local mall!" The instructions printed at the bottom then told the boys they had to take one picture of one boy in their group trying on something girly hairbow etc. Points were assigned for each task. We divided up into 2 teams and the kids got as many of the pictures as they could. Each boy had to be in at least one picture. All of the tasks were silly- reading a Barbie book in the bookstore riding a kiddie toy in the ride-on area etc. The boys had a blast doing this! Each team had 30 minutes and a digital camera. We met back at the limo looked at the pictures and tallied each teams points. We then drove to a park where I had decorated a shelter with more gold star black and gold balloons and streamers. We did the cake and presents at the park. I had planned on making a walk of fame with tins full of plaster so the kids could make handprints and sign their name but we didn't have enough time. After cake and presents we took the long way home and parents picked up the kids at 4pm. I gave out goody bags in white and red striped popcorn bags with lots of candy fancy pens (for autographs) etc. We got everyones autogtraph and they were on their way. All the boys said that it was the coolest party ever!!"
