My son chose a Rock Band" theme for his ninth birthday party based on the popular video game.  We made invitations look like audition flyers with pictures of my son playing rock instruments.  They said "wanted:band members" Join us for a birthday jam session at our recording studio.  We also made back stage passes with lanyards and id badges. We passed them out with the invitation.  We found plates that said party like a rock star and used black and red balloons and streamers.  We used a colored disco ball that plugged into an ipod and bead curtains with flames on them for effects.  The activities consisted of playing rock band and guitar hero.  We then let each child custom make there own rock t-shirt with white t's and fabric markers which dry almost immediately. We used rock themed stencils to create designs on them. Each child received rock style bracelets and tattoos to complete the rocker look. We served pizza and munchies.  I made star shaped cupcakes with special foil cupcake papers. I wrote rock on each one as in rock star.  I put a colorful guitar pick in each one.  Each child was sent home with there shirt
