For my daughters 8th birthday she wanted a rock star party. INVITAIONS: I made the invitations to look like large tickets & printed them on card stock. It said _______'s Rockin' Birthday
Party,
Concert date____, Time____, Venue______, have your people call my people" with phone number. I had a close up picture of my daughter on one side & had glued a guitar pick on the other & it said "you've been picked" in a cicle surrounding the guitar pick. DECORATIONS: We had the party at the youth area of our church which is decorated like a garage complete with a real convertible car that houses the sound board for the stage. It's pretty cool so we didn't have to do a lot for decorations because it already looks neat! I stacked some drum case on large speakers beside the stage & tied balloons. I had a banner with a guitar & childs name hung at the back of the stage. Decorated with balloons & sparkly streamers around the cake table. Had 3 long tables with black table cloths & silver & pink star confetti & ribbon on those tables. Sat up chairs in front of the stage & put inflatable guitars or inflatable microphones from Oriental Trading. ACTIVITIES: As the kids arrived I gave them a lanyard with their name that said V.I.P. Backstage Pass they could pick out a pair of sunglasses & a rock star silly band. When most had arrived we made bottle cap necklaces or bracelets. I had bought blank bottle caps magnets & clear dome stickers off etsy.com. I purchased a variety of colored paper a round hole punch small initial stickers & nylon necklaces from Hobby Lobby. The kids could select their background put on a sticker & glue it to the bottle cap & I would come around & attach the clear dome sticker on top to finish it. This was fun but a little crazy as we had 30 kids there! We had karaoke set up on the stage as the next activity. Then we put 2 chairs on stage & did presents. The birthday girl sat in one & the gift giver sat in the other while all the other kids sat in the audience. As it turns out the birthday girl took the microphone on her own & would announce what the gift was & think the gift giver all on her own! We let the kids snack on popcorn & nachos while she opened gifts because it took a while. FOOD: Had a table set up with nacho machine popcorn fruit & the cake. I made the cake to match the plates. We ordered "girls rock" plates with purple zebra stripes & pink leopard print from OT. Also ordered the volume button that "goes to 11" from OT for the boys at the party! The cake was a stacked cake. Bottom layer white fondant with purple zebra stripes. Top layer hot pink fondant with light pink & black spots. Also had a purple star that had a hot pink fondant guitar with my daughters inital on the bottom layer. CONCERT: The main event of the party was at the end as the Christian rock band that my husband & I play in came to the party & performed 3 original songs for the the screaming 8 year olds! It was a lot of fun & the kids thought this was pretty cool! We even let the birthday girl come up on stage & sing along to her favorite song. We did not do a normal "goody bag" but the kids took home the lanyards sunglasses silly bands bottle cap necklace & an inflatable guitar! This party was fun but a little chaotic. But such is the life of a rock star! ;)"
