My daughter is big into Hannah Montana and High School Musical.  For her 8th Birthday we had a Popstar birthday party.  I bought blow up guitars and microphones from Oriental Trading and then a can of colored hair spray. When the girls arrived they went directly to the dressing room" and had their hair sprayed with hot pink spray.  When the girls were done with that they went to their "photo shoot." I took my digital camera and took several group pics of the girls and then a shot of each girl on her own. (My husband developed them on our home printer while we cont'd with the party) Then it was off to the "recording studio". My brother owns some basic sound equipment and recorded the girls in groups of 2-3 singing their favorite song off of the HSM or Hannah Montana CD. Then all of the girls sang happy birthday to my daughter.  My brother was able to record Happy Birthday and the song each girl sang onto a CD.  While he was getting those recorded the girls took their pictures from the photo shoot and used them to decorate their own CD cover.  Then it was time to go "backstage." I had made cupcakes- took the freebie AOL startup CDs you can get at Target or Walmart- I placed the CD shiny side up and decorated it with each girl's name and added musical note stickers.  I had big sparkler candles in each cupcake.  The girls loved them! After we opened presents the girls got to take home their CD as their party favor. It was such a hit that now that the High School Musical 2 CD is out the girls want my daughter to do the same party again with newer songs. It was also one of the cheapest parties I've thrown. I spent $7.oo on the cupcakes about $15 on the guitars and microphones $10 on the blank CDs and covers $3 on the hairspray and $5 on the fancy pens. Grand total $40!"
