Rock Star- 7 yr. old boy
My son wanted a rock star birthday party and I was having a hard time finding ideas for a boy's rock star party so here's the ideas I came up with for a boy. The invitations were cut in the shape of guitars and said "Child's name will rock the house at his 7th birthday party. And then I filled the rest of the information in on the inside. I ordered music note patterened tableware and was able to find guitar and music shaped balloons. My husband made a real cheap stage out of plywood for the kids to dance and perform on. The backdrop was a white sheet that I painted huge speakers and amps on. We hung a curtain and put my sons instruments on it to look like it was set up for a concert. We also hung metalic stars all over the ceiling and had blow up guitars placed around the room. The goodie bags had star shaped note pads, guitar keychains, guitar bubble necklaces, guitar picks, and a music note balloon. I made a guitar cake with guitar cake pan and then made a square cake and decorated it to look like the amp. The cord was long black licorise, and the knobs were made out of miniture reese cups. I was also able to find a guitar pinata and filled it with confetti and loads of candy. For entertainment we started with a craft of make your own guitars. I had already cut out guitar shapes on poster board and the kids used markers, glitter, and stickers to decorate. You could make other instruments for this craft also like drums or marraccas, my son was just crazy about the guitar idea. After that we started the music up and played new silly version of hot potato. Instead of passing a potato you pass a garbage bag filed with silly, outdated clothes and wigs that the kids would never normally wear. When the music stops the child puts on an item from the garbage bag. Once the bag is empty, the winner is the one with the least amount of silly clothes on from the bag. This was lots of fun and the kids loved seeing their friends in such silly clothes. Lastly, the kids turned off the lights and turned on a strobe light and sang kids karoke songs into the microphone. We video taped a video of all the kids singing the song from Madagascar, "I like to Move It" and sent copies to each of the kids with the thank you notes. Other game ideas I had that we didn't have enough time to do included musical chairs, name that song (play a small part of a popular song that your child will know and have them guess), freeze dance, and have each child write and perform their own funny lyric songs. The ideas are endless.
