Hollywood B-day Bash

August 2005

HOLLYWOOD B-DAY BASH: I have a summer birthday, and this summer is probably the last time I will be seeing a bunch of my friends, because I will be changing schools. I want to do something really special, so I am having a Hollywod Birthday Bash, which will also be a slumber party. PART ONE- INVITATIONS: For an invitation, I am sending my 12 guests plastic movie star sunglasses with pieces of paper that are attached to the glasses so that the only way to see it is to put on the glasses. It will say: Come to Sophie's Hollywood Sleepover Birthday Party from 4:00 on June 9th to 9:30 on June 10th. Bring a sleeping bag and dress as if you are coming to the Academy Awards. Bring a sleeping bag and P.J.s. PART TWO-PRE-PARTY: My theme colors are purple and gold. The party will be mainly be held in my family room and living room. I will have gold stars hanging from the ceilings of both rooms. I'll have a purple tablecloth with gold confetti. I'll be getting purple paper cups and paper umbrellas that I will paint gold (make sure to let the paint dry- you don't want paint in your food!). Outside I'll have a big red carpet and I'll have movie posters all over the front hall. PART THREE-NIGHTTTIME AND AFTERNOON: It won't be the same as a night arrival, but It will still be fun. My dad will be taking pictures as my friends are dropped off in their Hollywood attire and I will take their coats. When my friends get in we'll do movie star charades until everyone gets her. For snacks we will have nachos and fruit kabobs. I am writing six short skits for five or six people, so that everybody will get to do three skits. After practicing,  we will film them, and then we will watch them all and vote for Academy Awards (best picture, best actress, best supporting actress, etc.). Everyone will get an award and have a plastic oscar. Thank you speeches are optional. Then we will have a pajama fasion show, where you throw your P.Js. into a pile and people get to choose pajamas to put on and model. After that we'll have an elegant dinner of shrimp or chicken and salad with apple cider in wine glasses. After that, we will play a DVD of the oscars while we eat popcorn and get manicures. For the Oscars, before the winner is announced everyone will have to say who they think should win and the people who haven't seen these Oscars will predict who they think will win. If you guess one right you get a swirl lollipop. After we watch the oscars we'll play games like Sardines and go to sleep. PART FOUR-MORNING: We'll wake up early and play Disney Scene It in our pajamas before breakfast. For breakfast we will have Krispy Kreme donuts and have a buffet of fruit, yogurt, bacon, and other stuff. For favors we're assempling a bucket of some fun things: feather boas, a collage of the person's favorite movie star photoshoped to look like they are standing next to that person, nail polish in their favorite color, a copy of one of the videos, and a personalized gift, like a rinestone picture frame or a set of sparkly pencils. I really hope that this was useful to you, because I worked hard on it!
