POP STAR PARTY All the guests dressed up as their favourite pop stars (we got alot of Kylie's, Brittany's and Avril's). Decorations involved many many silver, gold and purple balloons
clustered into bunches of 5 with gold and silver wrapping string draping from the bottom and hanging from the ceiling.
We also cut out large silver, gold and purple cardboard words, such as COOL, PARTY TIME, FAB, HOT etc to stick on the walls. We used purple crepe paper cut into strips to hang from the doorway on entry. FOOD was fairy bread cut into star shapes with cookie cutter, and normal nuggets, chips etc all served in silver foil wrapped bowls with gold star stickers stuck on the side. The table cloth was a plain purple bed sheet. And the cake was purple icing sprinkled with silver balls and a sexy popstar dressed barbie sitting on top. ART ACTIVITY - On arrival each child decorated a fairly stiff cardboard photo frame (home made) with glitter, pastiles, and jewels. All children were then divided into 3 teams with an adult to help and sent off with a box of dressups(ie/ hats, feather boas, scarves etc), makeup, hair accessories a pop star CD and instructions to come up with a dance routine and group name. When they came down we introduced them as the name they picked ie/Straight from the recording studio where they were making their latest record is the groovy girls and they performed their routine to the rest of the party goers. They also performed a brief 30 sec dance on their own (here's Laura). We videod it all and found it was real fun watching it later in the party. We then put on an instructive dance video which they learn't (or you could teach them the nutbush or something) To finish as this was a sleep over they all watched 'Flashdance' and went to sleep. The party was the talk of the classes all the next week and the girls were excited when they received their thankyou in the form of a photo of them in all their pop star glory to put in their handmade photo frames.
