For my neice's 12th b-day party we had a rock star slumber party inspired by the ever so popular 'Rock Band 2' game.
INVITATIONS: I love to give theme parties and this one was kind of last minute so we didn't use any themed invites (my neice had already notified her guests) However, if I were to do it again I would create guitar invites to pass out to the girls, preparing them to a night of 'rockin' rock out fun!' DECOR: We hung metallic gold streamers from the doorways and through one of the hallway entrances. The party was held in 2 rooms - 1 downstairs where the girls would eat and do their activities and the 2nd upstairs where the Wii was set up with Rock Band 2 on the 73 inch big screen. We blew up neon colored balloons and had them all over the floor downstairs and upstairs. We had 2 tables downstairs and covered them with black tablecloths and used metallic/foil type cardboard stars that we purchased at the party store and scattered them on the tables. We set out large black and neon green bowls on the tables and filled them with chips so the girls would have something to munch on. ACTIVITIES: As the girls came in they were each issued a Backstage Pass for Amber's Rockin' Rock Star Party!" (created on the computer and put in a plastic clear badge pocket and attached to a lanyard - neon lanyard would have been cool but like I said it was last minute so black was easier to get) Attched to the back of the badge was their itinerary w/ a list of the evening's activities: wrist band wardrobe hair make-up nails photo shoot rock out after party and autographs. As the girls went to the back we had out different leather type rocker WRIST BANDS that each girl was able to decorates with self adhesive jewels and other accessories (found it at Wal-Mart for $9.88). From there they moved on to WARDROBE: each girl got to put on their own girl tee we had purchased for them. Each tee was different but they all had a rocker theme to them (guitars bright colors etc.) We got them from a jrs. clothing store at the mall on sale for about $6 bucks each. After they got on their shirts they were able to complete their looks by selecting from other assesories we had laid out for them to choose from: large rocker style belts vests hats scarves and the best were rocker net arm gloves that the girls wore on their arms (the fingers are out and you stick your thumb through a hole - if you're a tween then you know what I'm talking about. We had them in all different coleors: red bright orange pink black and white. Next we move on to HAIR: We bought clip on neon hair extensions for the girls to wear (actually they were attached to bobby pins). My own girls liked these sooo much that one of them even tried to wear them to school. MAKE-UP came next: bright eye shadow colors body glitter and lipstick (too fun for 11 yr. olds) We had mirrors out so the girls could do their own and some did each other) Then came NAILS: white black neon colors glitter blues purples some cottonballs and plenty of polish remover. After they were all glamed out (rock star style) it was time for their PHOTO SHOOT: They did individual pix in front of the gold metallic streamers holding either their choice of a microphone or the Rock Band Fender guitar. then they posed for a group pix. To ROCK OUT: The girls headed upstairs to rock out to Rock Band! We then headed out to the late show with the girls all 'rocked' out. We gave them glow in the dark bracelets and necklaces to wear outside and in the theater. When we got back to the house we had pizza cupcakes soda and chips....they were given a page for AUTOGRAPHS and they all got to sign each other's cards and the rest of the night continued slumber party style. In the morning I printed their pix and glued them to a glitter foam sheet (5x7) and glued one of the foiled stars to each pix and added a few small silver star stickers around the frame of the pix. and the girls got to take home their shirts gloves pix and hair at the end of the party. My neice and her friends had a great time and I'm sure I'll be doing a party repeat: it was a big hit with my 11 yr. old and her b-day is in July.... "
