Rock & Roll Party
My daughter was turning 8, and loves the band N\*Sync! For her birthday she was having a variety of ages, so planning was "creative" to say the least. We found invitations that looked like tickets inviting them to the concert (complete with perforations to separate the ticket stubs). Each "concert go-er" had to have their tickets taken when the arrived. We decorated with N\*Sync posters on the walls and even had one on the food table under a clear plastic table cover and sprinkled music note confetti around to look festive. We made a disco ball pinata filled with toy instruments, candy, and music themed key chains, etc. from the dollar store. Kids always love a pinata. We also played musical chairs to N\*Sync music. The players (as they were eliminated) received their favorite rock stars on necklaces or music-themed temporary tatoos. For the snacks we made long buffet style sandwiches that looked like piano keyboards using white bread for the ivory keys and pumpernickel for the black keys. You can also make music note tortilla chips to serve with salsa or dip by cutting flour tortillas with cookie cutters and then baking! The cake was shaped like a CD and decorated with musical notes. For party favors we sent the kids home with N\*Sync 2 pocket folders, notebooks, and music note pencils, and stickers. Practical things they'll use in school--but still inexpensive. You'll have a great time dancing the party away to your favorite musical group.....Enjoy.
