We had just moved into a new home a month before my daughter's 7th Birthday and wanted to help her get to know the new neighbors and classmates better.
Our new house has a raised wooden floor off the living room which is supposed to be a formal dining room but is now known as "the stage". We had a come as your favorite musical star party. The invitations gave ideas such as Annie, Mary Kate and Ashley Olson, Brittany Spears, Jasmine, Cinderella, Mary Poppins, Shania Twain, Amy Grant, etc. Decorations were shiny stars which the birthday girl helped cut out and glitter hanging from the ceiling of the stage and at the front door. we had a long red carpet (felt) running up the front steps and all the way into the living room with star confetti spread out on it. We decorated star shaped sunglasses with confetti stars for a craft. The girls performed on the stage the song of their choice with a Karaoke. Some of the girls sang along but most of them sang in groups. Some of the girls just played "back-up dancer". The cake was star shaped and we put Generation Girl Chelsie from the Barbie line on top because she has a guitar and microphone accessories. We put edible glitter all over the cake. The tables were decorated in gold and red. Party gifts included red carnations and fern wrapped in tissue, mini boxes of chocolate bon-bons, and fancy hair barrettes with fake braids and beads coming out of them which matched each child hair color. I dressed up as "Rosie" the hostess of the show. These girls had a great time and Chelsea has many great new friends now.
