For my daughter's 9th birthday we had a Girls Rock!" theme. I put a piece of black poster board with a large silver star and the words "stage door/VIP access only" on the
front door.
As the guests arrived my older daughter and her friend checked to see if the girls were on the list and then they were issued backstage passes (homemade laminated with the date party name and guest name on a lanyard.) The girls LOVED this touch! Each girl was asked to bring an old t-shirt to the party. I had a table set up with scissors fabric scraps safety pins and multi colored sharpies. The girls then got the chance to redesign their t-shirts in a rock n roll way (I also had my older daughter and her friend supervise/help with this activity.) I had a book that I purchased at Michaels called "101 Ways to Make a T-Shirt" which provided ideas and inspiration. We had both Guitar Hero and Rock Band set up in the living room. The girls went back and forth between playing these two games making t-shirts and restyling each others' hair (I provided some inexpensive clips bands brushes and hairspray.) Of course we had balloons punch music snacks and cake. The cake was simple but very cute it had music notes and said "Happy Birthday Olivia You Rock!" I was actually able to find some "messenger" bags at the dollar store which made awesome party bags. I put some candy and black rubber bracelets in these. After the party I gave thank you gifts to my older daughter and her friend they really made the party fun for the younger girls and it was very helpful to me because I didn't have to work so hard I was able to relax and enjoy the party! The gifts I gave them were a colorful bag including flip-flops and a mini pedicure kit with nail polish toe spacers and a trial size cocoa butter moisturizer. They LOVED these!"
