Yes, Another Princess Party For my daughter's Second Birthday Party we had, yes, a princess party. Her birthday is in July, and we live in Texas; it was very very hot. The
most important lesson I learned from that is to turn the air conditioning down BEFORE the party.
We did not do that and from now on I will make it cooler than I would like it so that by the time all the body heat adds up it will be perfect. Okay, so about the party: We sent the invitations out a month a head of time since people tend to travel a lot in the summer. Her invitations were beautiful! We use shutterfly and I created cards with her picture on front. On the inside it said; Look how much (childs name) grew, and pretty soon she'll be two. Please join the princess to celebrate at: place, time, etc. etc. Please wear your finest royal attire. Dessert will be served. We had the party at two. This was perfect because lunch has already been eaten but it is too early for dinner. You save money by not having to serve food. For the snacks and dessert we had little star sandwiches cream cheese sandwiches, crackers served with cheese cut into stars and castles. "star" fruit is perfect for this type of theme. The cake was ordered from a wonderful local bakery. It was one of the "doll pan" cakes. It was a barbie doll surrounded by cake. (the cake is her dress) The decorations were so beautiful. I have now learned that while you might think you can throw the decorations up real quickly this takes a lot of time. I almost did not get them done because I waited until the last minute. For decorations I bought silver and purple stars from hobby lobby. (you could of course make these) I hung stars from the stair case with ribbons. And, then with all the extra stars I arranged them on the sidewalk leading up to the house and in the living room on the floor. I bought a princess bubble blower. The children loved this as it blows bubbles the whole time, and it creates the most beautiful pictures. I bought a "jump o lene" because I thought a bounce house or trampoline was a little bit two much for the age of the children. We had this outside and it was so hot that the parents had to pace back and forth from inside to outside. I suggest that if you have space in your home, bring it inside. I also bought the cutest princess tent from target and set that outside int the front yard. It was so cute as people pulled up to the house and saw the princess castle, and then walked inside on the sidewalk lined with stars. I also hung the stars from the trees. Hint Hint: get a lot of stars you can use them pretty much anywhere. I also bought one of those big tubs that people sometimes put toys, junk in. (also from target) We used this to put all the drinks in. This was great because they are cuter than having a regular cooler and so useful. I invited all the grandparents, and other people who like to cook to bring a favorite dish if they liked. This was so nice, because it helped involve those people who wanted to be involved and also, cut down the workload for me. An easy way to do this say in your invitation "there will be snacks, but feel free to bring your favorite dish" in this way you don't feel like you are pushing anyone to do it, but you are not leaving anyone out either. One other lesson I learned was about bugs. One of our guests was stung by bee, and I am sure there were probably other bugs, so be certain to take into account bug spray. Most importantly, DONT FORGET PLENTY OF FILM, or I guess i should say memory these days.
