Personalized Princess party - 4 year old For my daughter's fourth birthday we decided on an intimate, mother-daughter Princess party.
Invitations were personalized, inviting for example "Queen Denise" and "Princess Amanda". The afternoon began with the perfect, turreted pink and blue castle bounce house in our front yard. I served the children pink lemonade in glitter paint personalized plastic champagne flutes from a silver tray. Moms were offered real champagne or lemonade. Our front porch was draped in pink plastic table sheeting (inexpensive, comes in large rolls), silver cardboard stars and lots of pink, lavender, turquoise and silver balloons. After all our guests arrived we entered the house, stopping in the dining room. Each Princess received a personalized satin sash and hand-made headpiece (ribbon wrapped wreaths with hot-glued flowers and streamers of tulle, curling ribbon, and satin ribbon with crystal beads tied at the bottom). Each Queen also received a personalized sash and a rhinestone tiara (bought on e-bay). All of the accessories were displayed on my white-lace covered table, using lots of crystal trays and cake stands to add height. We then moved to our kitchen table, where everyone decorated a gold-painted cardboard treasure chest (Oriental Trading Company). The kitchen table was covered in the pink plastic for easy cleanup. We draped pink and lavender crepe paper streamers from the chandelier to the bay windows around the table, creating a tent effect. During the craft I had fresh fruit for the children and a shrimp cocktail tray for the adults. After our craft, we had a treasure hunt in the garden where I had hidden various OTC items (jewel rings, glitter nail polish, slap bracelets, etc.). After the treasure hunt the kids sat down at a mini-banquet table (from our local party rental place). The tables were set under our wooden pergola (patio cover), which was also draped in the pink plastic runners to look like a ballroom. The runner radiated from the center of the roof to the four supports, where it was gathered into floor-length drapes. I hung a silver star centerpiece from the center point, and also hung large silver cardboard stars all over. We had several balloon bouquets. The Princess' table had a pink paper tablecloth, small low arrangements of fresh white roses, silver star confetti and a pair of silver candlesticks (unlit, of course!). For the Queen's table, I made larger fresh rose arrangements (Costco has great flowers!) and borrowed a friend's elaborate silver candelabra. I ordered the cake from our wonderful local bakery. It was decorated with an adorable tiara, tulle, etc. Each child received an individual iced petit-four with their own candle to blow out and the adults enjoyed the cake. We played all of the Disney Princess CD's. I provided large glossy pink shopping bags to take home all the goodies and accessories. Having just six pairs of close friends/moms here was a nice change from our usual big blow-out parties! The moms loved all the little touches just for them. It was a royal afternoon for us all!
