Hello.
I know that there are several Princess themed party ideas already available, however I think that my 5 year old daughter, Molli Bea's party had some unique things that can add to the parties already on this website. For her invitations, we created a poem, printed out on fancy computer paper. This was a bit tricky, because my daughter wanted to invite boys to her party as well...therefore, we didn't want it to be too "frilly". Upon arrival at our party, there was the requisite balloons, signs, streamers, party goods - the balloons were multi-colored (pinks and purples and blues)...the signs were homemade from construction paper. The plates, napkins, and tablecloths were Disney princess themed, but we did have color coordinated plates and cups for the grownups, family and friends. My sister was dressed up in an old bridesmaid dress of ours, with her homecoming queen tiara and wand (of course) as Molli Bea's Fairy God-Mother. I had bought netting (tule) at our local craft store, along with ribbon and we made VERY EASY, simple skirts for the girls, and capes for the boys. As soon as they came through the door, the Fairy God-Mother placed their skirt/cape on and off they went. Our craft was Create your own Crown and went very smoothly! I spread everything out between a table, and a make-shift table on the floor. We had little plastic bowls filled with "jewels" of all colors, shapes and sizes. We also had the bowls with glue. We used Q-tips to spread the glue, which worked out well for the size and shapes of the jewels. There was also a variety of stickers. Next on the list is my favorite - I had recommended pin the crown on the princess, but Molli Bea thought the boys would feel funny - so she recommended Pin the Prince/Princess in the Castle (which worked out wonderful with our Castle cake). To pull this off was so much fun - I got very large poster board and drew a castle - simple magic markers, rainbows, windows, etc. Then, I took another poster board, cut it up into about 4x7 pieces and made each Prince/Princess. I made one for each child, mirroring that child's hair color, and favorite color for the dress/crown or the outfit/crown. We then labeled each one with the child's name. When it came time to play, the kids were so excited with their name and it was easy to see who won the game. The kids were also excited to take it home with them. The cake was a castle (pink and purple) - I made a chocolate cake (13x9) and 4 additional baby loaf pan cakes. I put the loaf cakes on top of the larger cake, and used sugar cones upsidedown for the towers. We used M&M's for the doors and windows, and licorice bites along the outer castle - it was so much fun. After the party, the kids each took home their crown, skirt/cape, and a little goodie bag. All in all the party was a success. Thank you. Have a great day.
