Party Supplies

My daughter wanted a Princess Party for her 5th birthday. We sent out birthday invitations that were scrolls.  They read like formal invitations to a grand ball - "Hear ye, hear ye ! You are cordially invited..." The invitations requested that each guest come dressed as her favorite princess. They had to RSVP to the Queen. The party room was decorated with some real flowers, streamers, and pink, white and silver balloons. I placed some of my daughter's Disney princess toys around the room as added decoration.  My husband wore his tuxedo - he was the prince. As each girl arrived, the walked down the red carpet (an old red tablecloth). They were each given a tiara upon arrival which they got to keep. My husband then blew the trumpet (a plastic one bought at a party store) and announced each girl - "Presenting Princess Alexandra". While waiting for everyone to arrive, the girls decorated a plastic Cinderella glass slipper (from party store) with glitter, sequins, gems, and small fabric roses. After everyone was done, Cinderella arrived!  I found someone to come dressed as Cinderella and bring a special birthday tiara for the birthday girl. Then I had stations set-up for the girls to move around the room. There was a nail polish station (2 of the moms painted the nails), Cinderella did face painting with sparkle glitter, color the paper glass slipper puppet, "Wishing Well" - the girls had to make a wish then throw painted ping pong balls into the well, and then there was "Kiss the Prince" - put bright lipstick on the girls then blindfold them, they had to try and kiss the prince on the lips (I got an advertisement poster of a man from a local shoe store for free). Next, Cinderella did dancing and balloon animals (shaped like pumpkins, mice, hearts), and pass the parcel (like hot potato but as the music stops that person gets to take a layer off the parcel and receive a small prize.      Lunch was served - heart shaped sandwiches made with pink strawberry cream cheese, plastic champagne glasses filled with white grape juice and a cherry. My daughter's chair was decorated like a throne with balloons. At each place, I put 2 gumdrop roses wrapped in plastic wrap and tied with ribbon. To make - roll out large gumdrops on sugared surface until flat then slice length wise. Roll in from one end then pinch bottom to spread out the petals.  Place on lollipop sticks dyed with green food coloring. The cake was a princess cake. The party favors were magic wands, small fabric covered baskets with little bells hanging from them filled with candy rings, candy necklace, princess stickers and tattoos and toy ring and necklace. It was a wonderful day - my daughter is still talking about it!
