For my daughter's third birthday, we had a Princess Averi party (I had been making up Princess Averi bedtime stories for some time). INVITATIONS: I went to Kinko's and bought blank, bordered
cards that were bordered with a castle theme and balloons and printed them on my printer. They read: Hear ye! Hear ye! By royal proclamation, Duchess (name) is hereby invited to Castle
Edwards, (address), to honor Princess Averi on the occasion of her third birthday. (Followed by drop-off and pick-up times). CAKE: We made a pink castle cake, complete with turrets and flags!
We baked one cake mix in round cake pans, and one mix in a 9"x13" pan. The round cakes we punched out the middle of them with a glass, making them look like donuts, then cut those
in half and stacked them on their sides together to form an arch. This was the center of the castle, complete with tunnel. Then we cut the rectangular cake in half and put a half on each side
of the arch. We covered the whole thing in pink frosting and used upside-down sugar cones dipped in white chocolate for the turrents (with toothpick flags sticking up from their tops). We
lined the rest of the top of the cake with Hershey's Hugs. It was beautiful! GAME: She was very attached to a carousel horse named Arabella from a local mall, so an artist friend of ours drew
a poster-sized picture of Arabella, minus her golden tail, which she drew separately. We mounted the poster to a board, covered it with clear contact paper, put sticky on the back of the
tail, and played "Pin the tail on Arabella." CRAFT: We bought solid-colored metallic party hats, several yards of inexpensive tulle, and a bunch of sequins and glue. We let the
girls glue as many sequins as they wanted onto the hats. After they were dry, the adults cut the tip of the hats off, and cut the tulle into 2 or 3 foot pieces and tied a large knot in one
end. We then carefully slipped the tulle inside the hat and through the top, catching the knot inside. They made darling medieval-looking princess hats!
