We had a tea party for our daughter's 4th birthday. I made invitations on my computer. They read.. "You are cordially invited to celebrate the 4th birthday of her royal highness, Princess
Devon. The honor of your presence is requested for "High tea" on (date) at 2 pm. We will be playing dress up. Royal attire will be provided." I purchased fancy dresses (such as
short prom, bridesmaid & flower girl) from local thrift stores (I washed them all before using) and also high heeled shoes - the gaudier the better (spray with disinfectant spray first).
We made candies using a candy mold and the cream cheese, powdered sugar & flavored oil (raspberry) recipe that wedding mints are made out of. I baked a Princess Doll cake in a glass
mixing bowl and decorated it to be the doll's dress. I borrowed a silver tea service from a friend. We had spiced apple juice, tea sandwiches (jelly & cream cheese and tuna). My daughter
wore a special dress and her tiara. The girls had lots of outfits to choose from. They changed their clothes several times, painted each other's nails, put on costume jewelry (including clip
on earrings) and pranced around. They all had a blast. Favors were inexpensive purses with costume jewelry, hair accessories, glitter "makeup" and lip balm. We had such a good time
that we're doing the same thing this year but adding a sleepover and princess themed movie.
