For my daughter's 6th birthday we hosted a princess and knight party at our home. Invitations read Hear Ye! Hear Ye! By royal decree for all in the land a royal celebration is now being
planned.
Princess (name goes here) will be six she's really excited if you could join us she'd be so delighted! Every princess and knight mark the date at 1 PM have your carriage arrive at the gate. The (fill in the date) is the day at the (fill in the surname) Castle (fill in the address) your parents know the way. We'll have a banquet bouncing & games to entertain and no one goes home until the dragon is slain! I downloaded from the internet a picture of a princess knight and dragon and used it to decorate the front of the initation. The invitations were printed on vellum rolled up tied with a lavendar bow and put inside incense cases purchased at Dollar tree (the incesne was removed but the nice scent lingered). Decorations: pink and lavendar balloons and streamers and I draped our staircase in pink and lavendar toule with pink/lavendar bows at the high points. My daughter's chair was a Barbie princess throne and the tables were draped with pink and lavendar satin tablecloths. One room of the house was a "princess parlor" and featured two princess vanity tables and stools makeup princess dresses jewelry boas etc. Another room was the "Knights lair" and featured the knight costumes (from Dollar Tree) including breast plates shields foam swords and rubber-tipped bow and arrows. Activities: I hired a company to provide a horse-drawn cinderella pumpkin carriage to escort the birthday girl Cinderella and Prince Charming (neighbors who served as character actors) to the party. They arrived shortly after the party began. The kids then took turns taking carriage rides around the block. I rented a Disney bounce house and it was a huge hit. I also had a treasure hunt where the kids had to solve clues which led them to various locations and ultimately to treasure chests filled with party goodies for each gift. The king (aka my boyfriend) made an announcement that a fire-breathing dragon was laying eggs all over the kingdom and challenged the guests to rid the kingdom of the eggs. Before the party started we hid "dragon eggs" (large egg shaped gumballs purchased at Dollar Tree) all over the yard. Before the kids enjoyed their royal feast I sat my daughter in the royal throne (a wing back chair draped in purple crushed velvet with a rhinestone tiara and the word princess ironed on the velvet)and I read a royal proclamation that declared her princess of a fictional land of Hylanthia (I ordered the proclamation on line). I presented my daughter with a royal sceptor and she then recognized each member of her royal court by presenting them a sceptor(girls) or a crown (boys). Cake: Shaped like Cinderella's Pumpkin Carriage and featured a princess a footman (mouse) and a slipper sitting atop a pillow. The cake was done in the party colors (pink lavendar and white). This was truly a magical celebration that our family will never forget. "
