Savannah's Princess 4yr - Princess Party Music

Honorable Mention

September 2008

Katie in Canton, GA USA

We had such a blast at this princess party!  Here is a rundown: 1. Invitations: I found a picture of the Princesses standing in front of a castle to use for the front, with the words Hear Ye! Hear Ye! printed in script. On the inside, it said You are hereby invited to a Royal Birthday Celebration for Princess Savannah!" with the party info. In the background is a pink outline of a castle (behind the words). I printed it on creamy marbled cardstock to look like parchment. 2. Decorations: We got those scene setters at Party City that look like the different princesses (Disney). Two of them we taped to the mailbox to show where the party was. The others were put around the party area. We had a walkway with long dowels stuck in the ground and a princess balloon attached to the top and tulle wrapped around the bottoms to mark the entrance and path to the party. We also used tulle on the tables big clouds of it on top of pink tablecloths (dollar store!)to set the pink trays (Party City) of food on.  I also bought the Disney Princess Party Music (Party City) to play in the background. It had all of the good songs. 3. Activities: First of all we rented a huge Disney Princess Bouncer/Slide Combo which was TOTALLY worth what we paid for it ($200 for all day)- everyone had a blast! We also made crafts- I got foam picture frames for the girls and foam door hangers for the boys (the door hangers had a crown at the top- I did a knight theme for the boys) (got frames/hangers at Dollar Store). The kids decorated them with foam stickers- I found Disney Princess foam sticker kits at Walmart as well as shapes and letters to personalize them. So cute! Then we took pictures for the frames for keepsakes- The girls had a life-size princess picture with the face cut out so they could put their faces in the hole and look like a princess (Oriental Trading) (my hubbie attached it to a big piece of wood and built a stand for it). The boys dressed up in a knight costume (oriental Trading). The pics are going home in thank-you notes. We also had the Princess Castle pinata with pull-strings (no sticks!) and the kids put their candy (including candy jewelry) into Cinderella goody bags. . 4. Food: Spiral sandwiches for adults PB&Js for the kids in flower and heart shapes. Princess sherbet punch juice boxes sodas for adults Disney Princess-shaped graham cracker cookies crackers & cheese fruit salad. I made the cake with the Wilton Romantic Castle Cake Kit and iced it purple and pink to match the pinata and bouncer. (Very time consuming but worth it- the cake looked amazing! It had towers and windows and everything- my daughter told me she wanted to live in it!). I had no leftovers after the party so I guess everyone liked the food! :) Everything was served on big pink plastic trays and I had Disney Princess plates and napkins (walmart) and pink cutlery (Dollar Tree- a buck for 54 pcs). 5. Goody bags: I ordered the Knight goody boxes from Oriental Trading which all the boys loved ($2.99 each for 7 pcs. inc. an inflatable sword). The girls had pink baskets (Dollar Tree) with princess jewelry (DT) a princess cup a tiara princess bracelets and an inflatable wand(OT) a disney prin. art kit ($1 at Michaels) a ring pop ($1 for 6 at Dollar Tree) and all the goody bags had chocolate lollipops in the Cinderella shapes (I bought the mold at Michaels). Hope you get some great ideas- people were very impressed with our party but most importantly everyone (especially my daughter)had a blast! A word of advice: Go to the dollar store FIRST- you will be AMAZED at what you can find for $1 that is 2-3 times as expensive elsewhere. "
